Guys, cut BT some slack here. This whole thread is full of "Oh god, how crap BT are - I wanna new IP" etc., etc.
When it comes down to it, when was the last time BT failed to connect you? How often does this happen?
Seldom to never is the answer. For all their failings, BT are one of the best internet providers in Britain. Thay're not the cheapest or the fastest but they are reliable.
For the record, I'm with BT too and I also lost all connections to the guildwars.com domain. It sucks, but it's temporary. Weather the storm, learn and move on.
(Also for the record - I don't work for BT! I work for a crappo train service provider. Feel free to rant about LUL )

Yeah, i am currently on hold as type this, to yet another department in Bombay,i have been passed down through 4 operators just trying to get hold of BT's internet support I have had enough of thier RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed up bullshit excuse for customer support they are a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing joke.
Will run a trace in a bit, i have just flagged the support website on this thanks to the link Lyger posted. I will let you guys know if i get any joy from this bunch of dickheads
Edit. Have just finished on the phone to 'technical support' which is a contradiction in terms, after trying twice to gain remote access to my machine the connection failed, thier answer to this problem is that , they know nothing about it as yet and cannot conduct further tests into it until they recieve official confirmation. So i guess we just have to wait and see.
I cant give BT anymore slack Snograt i have cut them so much slack in the last twelve months it is beyond belief, for me anyway this is the straw that broke the camels back.

Same issue
Same problem here have contacted BT as well using the link above and have also quoted the same reference number. The incident reference I got is 071206-005171 if anyone wants to join the club. I have also contacted the support team via anet [from work, as I can't connect to that either at home]. So hopefully something will happen soon.

Disconnect and then reconnect your internet connection, restart any modems and routers you may have and clear all of your private data on your PC (cache etc.).
Fixed it for me, it is something to do with an update a few days ago to all of the telephone lines in the UK (new software on the severs), restarting everything seems to put your PC into sync with it.
BT have appologized publicly for this problem (thats what they told me) however I cant seem to find it anywhere lol. Feel free to contact me if you need any more help

I have also tried Katie's suggestion but no go here either, but I have just received the following message from the support team
Hello Steve,
Thank you very much for contacting the Guild Wars Customer Support Team. We have received multiple complaints from BT customers and we´re currently working together with BT to find a quick solution to this issue.
Thank you again for your patience and cooperation.
Regards,
GM Greg
so hopefully something will get resolved

I've just had my line up and running today. I'm with sky as my ISP. Last i checked i think they were using BT lines for telephony and broadband connections.
Logged on to guildwars.com a couple times today without problems. Then I play GW for a bit hit a series of HUGE lag spikes (so big that I'm still in it after a reconnect). Then I get a 007. Ping and FPS are all over the place and now I can't get on to guildwars.com at all.
my tracert result isn't very long either:
Tracing route to guildwars.com [206.127.153.151]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
2 43 ms 35 ms 36 ms cr0.mralt.uk.easynet.net [82.108.10.128]
3 31 ms 31 ms 33 ms 82.111.101.241
4 39 ms 38 ms 39 ms bundle-2.er10.thlon.ov.easynet.net [195.66.224.43]
5 * * * Request timed out.

I've tried restarting computer, router clearing cache etc and no luck.
I'm not even gonna try customer services. for one, because they're all at home now and for two because I don't want to end up shouting at some poor desk jockey with a britney mic just because I'm annoyed at something (s)he couldn't help with if (s)he tried.

Can't load up my character (Error code 005)
This problem has been occurring sporadically over the last couple of days.
This morning i could log in and play, this afternoon i get this poop!
Kind of glad to see it's not just me but unfortunately it does not seem to be as simple as (switch off your home hub) for me
Any news/information/updates will be much appreciated.
